Tadini Tames The Dunes Course at Costa Navarino2 min read

Alessandro Tadini (PGA of Italy) has taken the early lead following Round 01 of the 2019 Messinia Pro-Am in sunny Costa Navarino in Greece, with an opening six-under par 65.

The opening round of the Pro-Am saw 31 Professionals battle the Bernhard Langer designed “The Dunes Course”, with Tadini taking a commanding lead of five shots.

Starting his round on the 10th hole, the Italian opened with a bogey but fought back in an outstanding manner producing a total of eight birdies for a final score of six-under, whilst the rest of the field succumbed to the breeze that picked up in the afternoon.

“It was a very good round, I had great feelings, I was hitting it nicely and putting really well. I had 26 putts so I would say that it was a very good day for me,” said Tadini.

“I found the greens to be very good, considering that we are in February they were perfect…very fast and difficult but I am faithful after today and will try to keep the good sensations going.”

In second place with 70 strokes (-1) was Stuart Boyle (PGA of GB&I) – the only other player in the field to finish under par, whilst in third place PGA of Portugal Member, Tomas Gouveia, shot an even par 71.

In the team category, Team Sotiropoulos, led by PGA of Greece’s Antonis Sotiropoulos, with amateurs Giorgos Manoulidis, Giorgos Vafiadis and Chrysi Vafiadis, share the lead with Team Diakou, led by Costa Navarino’s own Chrysanthos Diakou(PGA of Greece) playing with Claude IdouxMarie-Laure Idoux and Marinela Zavloschi with 82 stableford points (-10).

In third, Team Nikopoulos formed by Christos Nikopoulos (PGA of Greece), Maryna Kutkovska, Maksym Kutkovskyy and Costa Papadimitriou finished with 81 stableford points (-9).

The Professionals and Teams will play Round 02 on The Bay Course before heading back to The Dunes Course for the final round.
