The PGA of Israel’s Asaf Cohen has been crowned the 4th Messinia Pro-Am Professional Winner, alongside Team Pro-Am Winners, Team Bossert, at Costa Navarino in Greece.
“Everything is amazing here the courses are nice, good condition, the accommodation at The Westin Resort Costa Navarino is so good,” said Cohen of the year-round golf destination that has elevated the status of golf in Greece. “Every time I come with a group they say ‘please, let’s come again’.”
“I am very happy…the last time I lost here was in the playoff and it was so close. This time I did not feel good with my swing but my score was low and I just tried to stay in the game and to make birdies when I had the chance.”
Following the suspension of play in Round 03 play due to adverse weather conditions, Cohen’s two rounds of 66 on ‘The Bay Course’, a Robert Trent Jones Jr design, and 68 on Bernhard Langer design ‘The Dunes Course’ gave him his overall total of 134, three shots ahead of his rivals.
Second place fell to PGA of Italy Professional, Michele Reale, after his second round one-under par 70 at The Bay Course, combined with a first round of four-under, positioned him at five-under [137] for the week.
PGA of Switzerland Professional, Raphael de Sousa, and PGA of Luxembourg Professional, Alexander Verschaeren, each took a share of third place with a three-under par total of 139.
Team Bossert were able to steal a tight victory of just one point in the Team Pro-Am event as PGA of Switzerland Professional, André Bossert, and amateur teammates, Richard Dillon, Dorian Huber and Iban Soroa, carded a Round 01 total of 84 points on The Dunes Course and a Round 02 86 points on The Bay Course for their 170-point total [-26].
In second place on countback was individual Professional winner, Cohen, and amateurs Igor Pyatiagorsky, Jospeh Levy and Mendy Elbaz, followed by the team of Armin Posratschnig [PGA of Austria] and amateurs Manfred Kepold, Reinhard Krämmer and Christian Schmid in third place with 169 points [25].
