Spain’s Puig Giner & Arnaus Antunex Hold Lead at Fourball Championship2 min read

Posted on: 15th Feb 2018

The PGA of Spain’s Xavier Puig Giner & Adria Arnaus Antunex maintained their lead at the 2018 Fourball Championship Presented By Costa Daurada at Lumine Mediterránea Beach & Golf Community in Spain, with a -11 61, the lowest round of the Championship so far.

After sharing the lead overnight, Puig Giner & Arnaus Antunex moved on to the Hills Course – the more score-able of the two courses at Lumine, shown by just one pair of the top 15 having played the Lakes Course in Round 02. The Spaniards closed their Round 02 account at -19 (124), three shots ahead of the pack.

“Both courses are completely different, and the Hills is the one that allows you to think a little bit more and make different strategies depending on how the first player hits their shot,” said Arnaus Antunex. “Tomorrow we are going to go as low as we can and go for it with every shot…hopefully we can get another great round like we did for the last two days.”

Puig Giner added, “We are very happy and it was an amazing round – we had lots of holes where we both made birdies so there were lots of birdies out there today.”

Carlos del Moral Barilari & Jordi Garcia del Moral advanced a place up the leaderboard with a nine-under par 63 for a -16 (127) total, and were joined by another pair of PGA of Spain Professionals, Jordan Gibb & Liam Murray, who played in the same group and matched that 63 for their -15 total and standalone third place.

After the cut of 40 pairs and ties, the scoring is closely packed with the top 15 players within eight shots of par.
