Argentario Golf Resort & Spa in Italy was the spectacular setting for the first round of the Tuscany Golf Pro-Am, where the PGA of Spain’s Carlos Rodiles made the first move along with his amateur partner, Claudia Adriani.
With the Ryder Cup taking place in the United States it is apt that Argentario Golf Resort & Spa is not far from The Marco Simone Golf and Country Club that will host the Ryder Cup Matches in 2022.
Getting the one Professional, one amateur event underway, Rodiles, this week seeking his second Confederation of Professional Golf Sanctioned Event win, and Adriani made a fast start picking up 12 points in their opening four holes.
They continued to build their lead with a further two birdies on the outward nine, and in spite of a dropped shot on the ninth hole, the pair closed the nine in 23 points (-5).
A steady start on four pars on the back nine opened the door just slightly for their rivals but two birdies and a nett eagle saw them sign off for an inward 22 points and an unmatched 45 points (-9).
Three pairs of Professionals and amateurs are tied for second place on 40 points (-4): Andrea Bolognesi (PGA of Italy) and amateur Gianluca Piredda, Umberto Cuomo (PGA of Italy) with amateur Roberto Pretto, and Nicolas Riiber (PGA of Denamrk) and amateur Andrea Steno Larsson.
After just one round of the tournament it is all still to play for – Round 02 begins at 10:00am (GMT+2).
