Pressure Mounts For Home Stretch of World Club Pro-Am2 min read

Posted on: 2nd Mar 2016

As the PGA of South Africa World Club Pro-Am moves into the home stretch, the pressure is starting to mount with impressive scores being carded at the end of the 3rd round hosted at Prince’s Grant Golf Estate.

The absence of the notorious wind on this course did its bit to help ease the nerves of the teams as they teed-off to favourable weather conditions and world-renowned coastal scenery.

While French PGA Professional Julien Gressier from Chateau de Raray held onto the lead in the Professional Stableford by three shots on 114 points, German Christoph Günther [pictured] from Project Golf Club made his charge up the field in the third round with a two-under par 38 points.

Günther now holds 2nd place on the leaderboard with a total of 111 points, four shots ahead of South African Paul Marks of Woodhill Country Club and Kenneth Dube from Mananga Swaziland in tied 3rd on 107 points. Title defender, Henrik Engdahl from Greece’s Crete Golf Club shot 29 for the round and finished tied 7th with South African Ben Fouchee from Paarl Golf Club on 104 points.

In the ProAm 4-ball alliance, the South African team from River Club finished on a notable 86 points that has placed them top of the leaderboard on a total of 249 points and leaders going into the final round.

Fellow South African team, Durban Country Club, are close behind just one shot back in 2nd place on 248 points. The German team from Project Golf Club have moved up the field and will be chasing the South Africans for a shot at victory after finishing 4th on 243 total points.

Round 4 moves to Durban Country Club, where the final rounds of the tournament will be played out over the next two days.
