Kennegard Gets Costa Daurada Campaign Underway2 min read

Posted on: 9th Feb 2018

PGA of Sweden Professional, Jesper Kennegard, began his 2018 Costa Daurada International Pro-Am week in style with a four-under par 67 at Lumine Mediterránea Beach & Golf Club’s Lakes Course in Spain.

Kennegard’s round included six birdies and two bogeys and was unmatched by the rest of the field, with his closest competitors four shots behind at level par (71).

“It was nice out there – I drove it on the firway a lot and and hit a lot of greens and didn’t really make any mistakes,” said Kennegard. “I teed off at 1pm which was fine weather for me, although the wind picked up…I think this is my best score here at Lumine Lakes so it suits my eye. The game feels pretty good so I’m just going to try to keep going with it.”

Tied in second place are two PGA of France Professionals, Jeremie Lemaitre and Franck Arcivaux, both of whom led at level par for most of the day until Kennegard’s last minute score.

Lemaitre and Arcivaux each had four birdies, but two double bogeys and four bogeys respectively prevented them from moving under par.

A single shot back is the PGA of Sweden’s Bjorn Pettersson (72), followed by Frank Vigouroux (PGA of France) and Emilio Cuartero (PGA of Spain) at two-over par and in tie-fifth position.

The Team Pro-Am event saw Augustin Dragon (PGA of France) and his amateurs Patrick Ghezali, Sammy Medioni and Ahcene Nouisiri, score 85 points (-13) around the Lakes Course, a strong start that sees them lead by three.

Eric Colletta (PGA of France), Simon Cohen, Pierre Fedrigo, and Michael Paoli, sit in second on 82 (-10), whilst individual leader, Kennegard, Robert Becker, Richard Castex and Jean Moran, and GB&I Professional, Peter Finch, and his amateurs, James Carroll, Chris Finch and Billy Hussein, share third place on 81 points (-9).
