Italian Challengers in Place for Aegean Airlines Pro-Am Battle2 min read

Posted on: 14th Jun 2014

The second round of the 2014 Aegean Airlines Pro-Am at Costa Navarino in Greece saw a host of experienced and previous Aegean Airlines Pro-Am competitors continue their assault on the championship, with the top three PGA Professionals flying the flag for the PGA of Italy.

Round 1 leader and defending champion, Nicolo Gaggero, built upon his opening 63 with a two-under par 69 on the Bay Course to maintain his lead going into the final round with a three-shot buffer between him and fellow countryman, Akim Hassan, in second place.

Hassan, who returns having led his amateurs to Pro-Am Team victory in the 2013 edition of the event, ensured his first round pace continued with a four-under par 67.

But hot on his heels is the 2012 champion, Zeke Martinez, whose second round 69 at the Bay Course leaves him one back from Hassan as all three complete the final three-ball in the Individual Professional competition on the Dunes Course for the third and final round.

All top-10 Professionals are under par and within 10 of the lead meaning with forecasts showing the possibility of changeable conditions and potential rain, the competitors will be looking to pounce on any opportunity to edge ahead.

The Team Pro-Am competition culminated after Round 2 and results in the Team competition will be revealed at the end of the final day’s play.

Round 3 of the Individual Professional tournament gets underway at 07:30am EEST at Costa Navarino’s Dunes Course. For live scores and further updates on the Pro-Am Team competition visit http://eur.pe/1gEi0X8.
