Kevin Hesbois (PGA of Belgium) has taken the lead after Round 2 of the 2019 Costa Daurada International Pro-Am at Lumine Mediterránea Beach & Golf Community in Spain, after shooting a five-under par 67, for a 7-under par total.
Having started his round in tied-fourth, two shots behind the leaders, Hesbois found himself two-over par after only three holes, and his chances to reach the top of the leaderboard seemed to be slipping away.
But the Belgian remained focused and determined, grinding to shoot a steady one-under par front nine, and an outstanding four-under par back for a total of 67 (-5).
“Today I started off a little weak, I made two bogeys on my first three holes, but I bounced back quickly and birdied four and five and that really got me going,” said Hesbois following his round. “I turned at one-under and on the back nine I played really solidly and made a couple of putts.”
Second place at six-under par is shared by the defending champion Emilio Cuartero (PGA of Spain) – who found himself in the lead up until the 13th where an unfortunate double-bogey took him back to two-under for the round – and PGA of France Professional, Anthony Grenier.
In the Team Pro-Am event, Team Hesbois’ second round of 90 stableford points (-18) shot them to the top of the leaderboard with a total of 172 (-28). The team is led by Kevin Hesbois with amateurs Emma Van de Rostyne, Jorgo Mahieu and Stefan Cramers.
Only one point behind, Team Grenier have 171 stableford points (-27), and in third place Team Cuartero trail at 166 (-22).
