Heraty Leads Abu Dhabi Pro-Am At -72 min read

Posted on: 5th Feb 2019

Englishman Joe Heraty has maintained his lead following Round 02 of the 2019 Abu Dhabi Pro-Am Presented by Troon Golf with a total score of 137 (-7).

Following a steady opening round of 69, Heraty showed no sign of slowing down, and produced another excellent round of four-under par (68) at the beautiful Saadiyat Beach Golf Club, UAE, taking him to a total of seven-under for the tournament, and three shots clear of the PGA of Austria’s Uli Weinhandl who sits in sole second at four-under (140).

“I just kept it in play and holed a load of putts. The greens were just pure and the wind wasn’t as bad as yesterday so it was good,” said Heraty. “The team also did really well. We holed a lot of putts and had a few chip-ins, so it was good fun.”

Weinhandl made an early charge and was three-under for the round through four holes, but just as it looked like he was going to catch the leader, a couple of bogeys on the back-nine brought him back to two-under, and his four-under total.

PGA of GB&I Professionals, Robbie Busher and Richard Wallis, produced rounds of 68 and 69 meaning they would both move up the leaderboard to take a share of third place at three-under (141). Whilst in fifth place, the PGA of Italy’s Emanuele Canonica enters the final round at two-under par (142).

In the team category, Team Busher, increased their score to 170 stableford points (-26), extending their lead by five points over Team Heraty with 165 points (-21).

Rounds 01 and 02 were played on Saadiyat Beach Golf Club, and the players will now move to Abu Dhabi Golf Club for the final round.
