A conservative strategy and a strong game from the tee proved crucial for Federico Elli, as he shot the only under-par score of the day at Thracian Cliffs Golf Resort in Bulgaria and with it, the Round 02 lead of the 11th BlackSeaRama Vivacom Pro-Am.
Contrary to the rest of the overnight contenders, the midday gusts and a challenging, narrow golf course caused minimal issues for PGA of Italy’s Elli, who countered three bogeys with four birdies to post a one-under-par score of 71 and 140 (-3) total.
“The wind was howling, and it was very tough but I was lucky with the draw to play early this morning with less wind,” said the Italian. “The key was that I didn’t miss any fairways and was really consistent off the tee.
“Tomorrow If I can drive the ball like I did today that will make things a lot easier. There are some risk and reward holes [at BlackSeaRama], but a lot where you will have to play safe so I will keep to my gameplan and see what happens.”
Team Yamac (with amateurs Catalina Jigman, Bogdan Jigman and Kenan Güngör), Team Bond (with amateurs Ivan Skripkin, Nikita Skripkin and Andrey Stolyarov) and Team Kraljevic (with amateurs Boris Damjanovic, Jasna Damjanovic and Dejan Simic) all share the lead in the team event with 169 points (-25), heading into the tomorrow’s final round at BlackSeaRama Golf Resort and Villas.
