The 10th anniversary edition of the BlackSeaRama Vivacom Pro-Am 2018 got off to a fiery start today in Bulgaria with Asaf Cohen leading the way after an outstanding opening 64.
With the first round taking place on the par-71 course of Lighthouse Golf & Spa Resort, a record 32 teams and their Professionals are competing for the anniversary title.
“It was my first time on this golf course, but I hit the ball very well…and just tried to find the fairways from the tee,” said Cohen after keeping a ‘clean sheet’ with no bogeys on his card.
“I had only one practice round on the other course, so I hope to play well like I did today in the other rounds. All the courses are amazing and I like the whole place so for sure I will be coming again.”
Early clubhouse leader, Chryssanthos Diakou (PGA of Greece), is still within touching distance just four shots back – five birdies and two bogeys gave him a 68 (-3).
Third place has a five-way tie with Professionals Jonathan Grogan (PGA of GB&I), Bulent Karatas (PGA of Turkey), Craig Williams (PGA of Italy), Dimitri Chaynes (PGA of France), and Ulas Karatas (PGA of Turkey) all on two-under par.
The Team Pro-Am event is led by Professional Grogan and his team of Gunther Corinth, Micheal Gutske, and Georgi Krastev. Their score of 94 points (-22) secured them the leading spot at the top of the leaderboard, leading by 5 points over PGA of Turkey Professional, Hakan Yamac, and his team.
Yamac’s 89 points (-17) was closely followed by the team led by PGA of Bulgaria Professional, Krasimir Panayotov, who closed just a point behind on 88 points.
