Team Europe Solheim Cup Collection Provided by PING2 min read

Posted on: 20th Aug 2021

PING Europe is a CPG Business Partner and member of the Business Club by CPG – Find out more here

As the Official Apparel Supplier of the European Solheim Cup team, PING released details last month of the apparel collection worn by Team Europe at the 2021 Solheim Cup, at Inverness Club, in Toledo, Ohio.

PING has a long-standing and strong relationship with the biennial contest, having played an important part in the competition’s inception in 1990, with the tournament subsequently being named after Karsten and Louise Solheim, PING’s founders.

Expanding their commitment to supporting and growing women’s golf, PING supplied Team Europe with an all-new apparel collection, engineered to help the players look and play their best. The collection utilises PING’s innovative Sensor technology platform with premium performance fabrics, to deliver a collection that will perform in any condition on the course.

Lisa Lovatt, Managing Director of PING Europe, commented: “This is a fantastic opportunity for PING to be the Official Apparel Supplier of Team Europe, in a competition that everyone at PING holds so close to our hearts.

Inspiration for the collection has been drawn from flowers native to Ohio, whilst also placing a modern twist on recognisable European themes. The opening day’s outfit was inspired by the milkweed flower, a native flower to Northwest Ohio, where this bloom has been incorporated with the European Shield of Stars to create a unique print design that pays homage to the tournament’s host state. To coordinate with the star flower patterned skort or short, the players wore royal purple polo shirt that features star detailing, creating a striking head-to-toe look.

The second outfit is based on the vibrant colours of the European flag but given a contemporary twist, through the use of a slightly warmer citrus yellow shade, while still incorporating the traditional blue and gold stars through trims and rivets.

For the final competition day, PING created a stylish, yet impactful design that utilised the classic European blue and white colourway, with metallic gold star highlights, as Team Europe retained their Solheim Cup title.

Commenting on the designs, Global Creative Director for PING, Fiona Reilly, said: “It has been a pleasure to be involved with the designing of Team Europe’s apparel collection for the Solheim Cup. Our goal in creating the 2021 Solheim Cup uniform was to provide Team Europe with unique, clean and contemporary designs that reflect a distinctly European aesthetic. Comfort and freedom of movement is of paramount importance for the athletes and, to ensure this, all of the garments are engineered from our performance Sensor technology fabrics.

Limited availability of the final day’s outfit and waterproof jacket is available to purchase here from today, allowing European fans to sport the same look as their favourite players.
