Mercedes-Benz International Grows to 72 Holes for 20161 min read

Posted on: 11th Aug 2015

January 2016 will see the return of the popular Mercedes-Benz International Pro-Am supported by Abu Dhabi Sports Council from Sunday 17th to Thursday 21st January at Al Ain Equestrian, Shooting & Golf Club in the United Arab Emirates.

After two very successful previous events, the Mercedes-Benz International returns with a new format that includes an additional round for both Professionals and amateur competitors making for a 72-hole tournament.

Professionals will compete with their amateur teammates in the Team Pro-Am event for the first three rounds after which the professionals will be drawn together to finish off their own 72-hole strokeplay event for a prize fund of €28,000, whilst the amateurs compete in a separate 18 hole game.

“We are very excited about the third edition of the event in 2016,” said Gavin Chappell, Golf Manager at Al Ain Equestrian, Shooting & Golf Club.

“The additional day and change in format come as a direct result of the feedback from the first two years as well as from the success of other events that have a similar four-round programme and a split in the final round.  We are looking forward to welcoming the 28 Professionals and their teams to experience the extended programme.”
