Jahn in the ‘Flo’ of Things at Pravets2 min read

The PGA of Germany’s Florian Jahn got his #PassportToPravets campaign underway with an opening 67 to take the lead at Pravets Golf & Spa Resort in Bulgaria.

The first round of the UniCredit PGA Professional Championship leant itself to good scoring as the expected rainy weather never appeared, with half the field at even par or better.

Jahn’s opening nine holes was a solid start to the 72-hole tournament with a single birdie at hole seven. But four birdies on the back nine propelled him to a five-under par total and a one-shot lead.

“Last week I played in the German PGA Championship and I finished third so hopefully I can play stable,” said the Hamburg professional.

“It’s my first time here but I played in the Pro-Am and had a look at the course – I don’t really have a gameplan so I just played my game.”

In tied-second place are Damjan Murgelj (PGA of Slovenia) and last year’s runner-up, Ralph Miller (PGA of Holland), both of whom carded four-under par 68s.

Miller is confident that his near misses in the Championship will hold him in good stead against the newcomers in the field:

“Maybe I know the greens a bit better than the new guys having played here for four years now so that’s a bit of an advantage. There’s a bunch of good players out here so I’ll just try and play well.”

Meanwhile Murgelj is hoping his ‘mind-plan’ approach will keep him focused throughout the week – “It’s not a gameplan, it’s my ‘mind-plan’. I was focusing on playing the course, a couple of shots were off today but I had good recoveries. There are three more rounds…[so] we’ll see what happens.”
