England’s Phil Golding and Scotland’s Raymond Russell lead the way through Round 01 of the Beko Classic Pro-Am in Turkey, after going low with a pair of seven-under 65s.
27 invited Professionals, including past Champions, Major winners, Challenge and European Tour winners got their campaigns underway in perfect golfing conditions at Gloria Hotels & Resorts in Belek, Turkey.
Making early moves into the lead was Raymond Russell with a superb blemish free 65. His outward nine of 34 (three-under par) was bettered by his inward nine of 31 (four-under par) to set the early pace.
Golding, who finished second at the recent Paris Legends Championship at Le Golf National in France and is a past winner of the Beko Classic, carded eight birdies and one bogey in his round of 65 to share the lead.
PGA in Scotland Professional, Graham Fox, had a superb start to his round, getting a hole in one on the 17th on his 4th tournament hole – much to the delight of his Pro-Am team.
In the Team Pro-Am competition it was again a shared lead between team Beko 3, made up of Professional Bjorn Petterson alongside amateurs Martyn Acland, Andrew Thomas and Onder Cerezci, and Team Opet 2, led by Professional, Jamie Little, with amateurs Huseyin Demirag, Nida Cireli and Richard Ozatacan, who both opened up their accounts with excellent rounds of 88 points (-16).
Round 02 commences at 09:30 GMT + 3 Hours.
