Gane Makes Gains at Saadiyat Beach2 min read

Posted on: 27th Mar 2018

Chris Gane (PGA of Great Britain & Ireland) has maintained his lead of the 2018 Troon Golf Abu Dhabi Pro-Am after carding a second round of 67 at Saadiyat Beach Golf Club in the UAE, for a total of 12 under par (132) for the tournament.

With a couple of bogeys on the back nine, Gane had eight birdies to card a solid five-under par round, keeping his lead over South Africa’s Mathiam Keyser who sits in second place.

Keyser made five birdies and two bogeys on his way to a three-under par 69, taking him to a total of seven under (137) and still just within touching distance of the lead.

The PGA of Italy’s Federico Elli also had a good run trying to catch the leaders, but a triple-bogey on the par-four fourth meant his six birdies and an eagle would only allow him to finish his round with a 68 and a six-under par (138) total for the tournament.

In the Pro-Am, Gane’s Team of amateurs Andrew Doswell, Neil Foulkes and Robert Munro, head into the last round with a total of 174 points (-30), just four points ahead of Keyser and his team of Khaled Samawi, Julien Leonard and Ead Samawi.

With 165 points (-21), Saadiyat Beach Golf Club’s local team of Matt Waters (PGA of GB&I), Khalifa Al Masaood, Mark Stannard and Saif Thabet enter the final round in third place.
