Gaggero Sets Sights on 4th Aegean Title1 min read

Posted on: 8th Jun 2017

The PGA of Italy’s Nicolo Gaggero has made a strong opening statement after round 01 of the 2017 Aegean Airlines Pro-Am at Costa Navarino in Greece, with an opening five-under par 66.

The field of 60 Teams are negotiating their way across The Dunes and The Bay Courses, and it was the latter where Gaggero made his move with six birdies and a single bogey to hold an early one-shot lead.

Second place is widely spread with seven Professionals sharing a four-under par (67) total: Martin Dewhurst (PGA of GB&I), David Heinzinger (PGA of Germany), Steven Sharp (PGA of GB&I), Georg Schultes (PGA of Austria), Mike Burrows (PGA of Austria), Paolo Terrini (PGA of Italy), and Henrik Engdahl (PGA of Greece).

The first half of the two-round Team Pro-Am is led by Gaggero’s Team of Emanuel Georgoudis, Pino Peirano and Orlando Grondona; Rudy Whitfield (PGA of South Africa) and amateurs Andre Hugo, Harry Chrisofi, and James Johnston; as well as Gregory Molteni (PGA of Italy) and his amateur teammates Massimiliano Merlo, Paolo Lange and Roberto Montalbano, each on 93 points (-21).
