For the first time in two years, the Confederation of Professional Golf [CPG] will bring together representatives from its 43 Member Countries for the Annual Congress and International Team Championship [ITC] hosted by Penina Hotel & Golf Resort and supported by Turismo de Portugal, Turismo do Algarve and the Ryder Cup European Development Trust.
The Annual Congress is a fabulous environment for sharing knowledge across National PGAs and collaborating on activities outlined in the CPG’s five-year strategic plan – CPG Thrive – that is built on the guiding principles of Togetherness, Collaboration and Development to enable the strength and influence of the organisation’s collective membership to thrive.
Chief Executive of the CPG, Ian Randell, gave comment on the news: “Whilst staging a virtual congress in 2020 was hugely successful, it just cannot compare to the opportunity to spend time with the leadership, both in and out of the conference room, from across our 43 Member Countries. Furthermore, the International Team Championship has been an integral part of our tournament schedule since 1989, so the opportunity for PGA Professionals to compete in this prestigious championship was also sorely missed last year.”
“We are hugely excited to be returning to Penina and the Algarve and our thanks go to the Turismo de Portugal and Turismo de Algarve for their fantastic support in bringing this to fruition”
Located in the Algarve region of Portugal and two hours from the country’s capital Lisbon, Penina Hotel & Golf Resort provides an idyllic location to host the series of seminars, presentations and delegate activities that are synonymous with the Annual Congress.
Penina’s 18-hole championship golf course, dubbed ‘The Home of Portugal Golf’ will also offer an enticing stage for the ITC. In its 32nd edition, the tournament provides some of the CPG’s Member Countries’ best PGA Professionals with the opportunity to represent their country in a team format.
Regional Director of Sales for JJW Hotels & Resorts, Pedro Garcia e Costa, said: “It is a great pleasure to once again host the CPG’s Annual Congress and International Team Championship. Historical Penina has hosted so many professional golf events over the years, so Golf is on our DNA. That is why we are very proud to be staging this event and supporting the CPG on their mission to bring their members and industry representatives together and better the golf industry.”
