CPG and EOSE Gain EU Support For Modernising Education For Professionals in Golf2 min read

Posted on: 30th Nov 2020

The Confederation of Professional Golf (CPG) and the European Observatoire of Sport and Employment (EOSE), in partnership with international organisations from seven countries and many different aspects of the worlds of golf and education, will deliver a new, pioneering golf education project, backed by the European Union [EU] Erasmus+ Sport Programme, that will modernise golf education and training across the continent.

Delivered over a three-year period, the ‘EDUGOLF’ project will play a significant role in developing the skills of PGA Members in golf through new, innovative modes of education and training.

The project is a collaborative partnership between organisations, which include EOSE, CPG itself and two CPG Member Countries – the PGA of Sweden and PGA of Belgium, three National Federations – Polish Golf Union, French Golf Federation, Royal Spanish Golf Federation, who will work in conjunction with their national PGAs, the European Disabled Golfer’s Association [EDGA] and two universities and higher education institutions – University of Applied Sciences for Sport and Management and National University of Ukraine on Physical Education and Sport.

Aurelien Favre, Executive Director of EOSE, commented: “EOSE is delighted to be working again with the CPG and partners from the whole golf industry to provide project management and workforce development expertise to the EDUGOLF project.

“This is an exciting project to modernise education and training and develop the skills of professionals in golf – themes that align closely with the mission of EOSE.”

Chief Executive of the CPG, the Technical Lead of the project, Ian Randell, said: “As we continue to see significant changes across society, so too grows the need for the structures and content of golf education and training to evolve and continue to be fit-for- purpose.

“Making the game accessible and reaching out to more people will require significant changes in the golf industry – EDUGOLF plays a vital role in ensuring that the workforce for golf are equipped with the education, skills and knowledge to facilitate the needs of the game and industry, now and in the future.”

EDUGOLF will launch in January 2021, with the aim of activating numerous objectives across key areas including labour and education market research, occupational standards for golf, innovative online learning, a strategic action plan and a final conference, entitled ‘Modernising Golf Education and training in Europe’.
