Representatives from 14 of the Association’s 33 Member Countries gathered at 2018 Ryder Cup venue, Le Golf National, in Paris to progress a new initiative entitled the ‘Collaboration & Digitalisation Project’.
The Project is designed to create even closer and more collaborative relationships between the Confederation of Professional Golf and its Member Country PGAs, and between these countries themselves. The Association’s network has always been a key element of its work, but with the digital landscape continually evolving, the Association is working with its member PGAs to capitalise on the possibilities it provides.
Whilst ensuring each of the organisations maintain their autonomy and control, the Project will provide a chance to increase the effectiveness of the ways the Confederation of Professional Golf works with its Members, create new opportunities and ways of working together, and identify economies of scale that can significantly help all the organisations to work smarter and more efficiently.
Representatives at the meeting were able to take part in detailed, in-depth discussions around various aspects of their activity that will form the basis of the research taking place as part of the first phase of the project.
“The benefits to all of us of increased collaboration and sharing across relevant activities, such as education, tournaments, communications, etc., are immeasurable, as well as the chance to discuss exciting new opportunities to embrace new technology ” said Confederation of Professional Golf Chief Executive, Ian Randell.
“Engaging with our members and creating communities of interest are greater than ever thanks to today’s communications media, and we wish to embrace these fully, whilst not forgetting the benefits of coming together on a regular basis for some quality time in each other’s company.
“It was fitting that this meeting was held at a venue where Team Europe came together in such spectacular fashion last September, and Bernhard Langer’s quote in the European Team locker room of ‘twelve being better than one’ is completely in-line with our thinking and movement towards more of a ‘one-organisation’ culture.”
As well as meeting time, Le Golf National hosted the days’ events giving the PGAs’ representatives a chance to play the Albatross Course where Team Europe secured their victory over the Americans, as well as visiting the European and USA team rooms that have been kept as they were during the matches last year.
