The first General Assembly of the Association of Teachers and amateur golfers of Spain, was held on April 19, 1972, in the boardroom of the National Institute of Physical Education and Sport in Madrid. This was the first association of professional athletes who represented the country.

Juan Antonio Andreu, President of the Royal Spanish Golf Federation, with the support and legal advice of Vice President, Juan Castresana, shaped the statutes copying and drawing on foreign models.
