The PGA Professional, born September 12, 1940 in Posen, member of the professional association since January 1, 1958, was President of the Professional Association from 1993 to 2000 and since then Honorary President of the PGA of Germany.

During his tenure, Heinz Fehring not only helped the PGA of Germany get its name – in 1995 the German Golf Teachers Association (DGLV) was renamed the PGA of Germany on his initiative – it was also Fehring who ensured that the PGA of Germany is today a highly recognized member of the international PGA family.

As a player, he not only took part in the World Cup for Germany twice, in 1963 and 1965, but Bernhard Langer’s trainer was also extremely successful as a coach. Among other things, he coached German national teams for twelve years; as a golf course architect, he built numerous magnificent golf courses.

In the 1990s, as President first of the DGLV and later of the PGA of Germany, he succeeded in placing Germany where it is today: at the top of golf and the golf business in Europe. Respected and recognized worldwide.

Heinz [pictured below alongside CPG Chief Executive, Ian Randell, and the Association’s 25th Anniversary celebrations] also had a hugely influential international role across his life, holding roles with the CPG as Board Director until 2008 after which he served as Honorary President until 2010, as well as Board Director in Ryder Cup Europe for a number of years. He was also recognised in 1994 with the CPG’s prestigious 5-Star Professional Award for his work as a PGA Professional.

On January 20, 2023, Heinz Fehring died as a result of a stroke. The funeral service and burial will take place on January 27 in Denmark, where Heinz last lived with his wife Ellen Margrethe Duus Fehring.
