The Professional Golfers Association (PGA) of Germany is the umbrella organisation of all golf professionals in Germany. The Professional Association was founded in 1927 under the name “eV German Golf Teachers Association” and renamed in 1995 as the ‘PGA of Germany’. The Association promotes the professional interests of golf professionals in Germany.
The main tasks of the PGA of Germany are the care and advice of its members, and training of qualified golf instructor and the organisation of training courses, tournaments and championships for Golf Professionals. Other important objectives are the promotion of young talent, the promotion of golf and its visibility to the public and the respect of the traditions of golf.
The Board of the PGA of Germany is composed of seven members and is led by the President, Stefan Quirmbach (Golf Resort Hardenberg) and managed by the CEO, Rainer Goldrian.
The “PGA training and further education GmbH”, a 100 percent subsidiary of the Association is led by Ines Halmburger as Managing Director. Rainer Goldrian is also Managing Director of EPDT Golf Tours GmbH and directs the joint holding company of the PGA of Germany and its subsidiaries, the Professional Golf AG, founded in 2004.
Currently, the PGA of Germany has around 1800 Golf Professionals including both “Teaching Professionals”, who primarily earn their livelihood through golf lessons, as well as “Playing Professionals”, whose income is comprised of prize money and sponsorship.
The members of the PGA of Germany have contact with almost all golfers in Germany. They are golf instructors, trainers, pro shop operators, club managers, athletic role models and opinion leaders for golfers in Germany.
