Job Description

Costa Navarino’s award-winning Golf Department is seeking for a Golf Operations Manager (based in Messinia, Greece) who embraces Costa Navarino’s vision, is engaged to long term targets and mission and will be responsible for the day-to-day Golf Experience. Interact with associates, golf tour operators, golf professionals, club members and golf guests of the Hotel & public using the courses. Oversees the management and performance of Caddy Master, Golf Reception/Pro Shop and applicable department operations and services to assure high standards and total customer satisfaction.

Main responsibilities as part of Golf team:

  • Manage the daily operations to ensure all guests are receiving the utmost care and attention during their golf experience and making sure a world-5star-class level is achieved,

  • Oversee the management and enforce the Golf Shop Retail & caddy master operations policies, procedures, controls, and fee structures to ensure the safekeeping of assets, managing inventory levels, markdowns, resources, and promotions,

  • Cooperate with the Course Superintendent relating to maintenance issues that affect the playability of the golf course,

  • Prepare annual and monthly budgets for golf operations; take corrective actions as necessary to help assure that budget goals are attained,

  • Display leadership in guest hospitality, exemplifying excellent customer service and creating a positive atmosphere for guest relations,

  • Conduct annual performance report according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs),

  • Analyze and measure performance by comparing actions and results to the established SOPs and KPIs. Identify any areas of weakness, recommending and implementing improvements,

  • Oversee tournament schedule and golf activities program that services all guests’ segments,

  • Oversee and/or attend chairs staff meetings focused on guests, operations, revenue growth, cost containment and continuous improvement,

  • Create and execute short and long-term operational & financial plans, to improve quality and financial results,

  • Train, define and assign tasks to associates from all golf departments. Advise on changes and how to implement them and provide training, tools, and techniques to enable others to excel,

  • Collaborate with the following Departments within the company; Purchasing, Facilities Maintenance, Greenkeeping and Golf & Hotels Reservations, and maintain constant communication between departments and keep them all informed about special programs & events, to ensure an effective & fluid inter-departmental operation. Additionally, collaborate with Golf Tour Operators, Travel Agencies, Golf Professionals and Transportation companies.


Requirements:

  • To be proactive & multi-tasking, able to work under pressure and handle difficult and/or stressful situations, good decision-making skills, problem solving skills, time management skills, customer service skills, selling & upselling skills,

  • Ability to operate hotel systems (Opera, Golf Manager and Scan) & other software and computer skills (Excel-Word-Power Point-Outlook),

  • Ability to maintain/adhere to company Brand Standards, Policies & SOPs,

  • Communication Skills; Spoken, Written and Email etiquette,

  • Skills in recruiting, supervising, training, evaluating and motivating personnel,

  • Knowledge of Golf Industry (Hospitality & Real Estate),

  • Ability to deliver Memorable Service,

  • Strategic planning & thinking,

  • Interacts with high integrity always demonstrating honesty, good will, and positive attitude,

  • Demonstrate a “winner’s” attitude and takesownership of what needs to be done to deliver results,

Qualifications

  • A 360° experience of 2-3 years in a Golf Establishment,

  • Graduate Degree (MA/MSc),

  • Golf Management Certificate – University Degree or Equivalent,

  • Valid Driver's License,

  • Advanced computer skills required for financial reporting and control of operations, including use of Microsoft Office,

  • Speak, write and converse freely in English. Greek will be considered an advantage,

  • Candidates with a valid EU passport will have an advantage due to bureaucratic process.
