The Confederation of Professional Golf is pleased to announce details for the application process to obtain Ryder Cup tickets for PGA Professional members of Confederation of Professional Golf member countries for the matches to be held at Gleneagles on 23rd to 28th September 2014.

Application forms will be available in January 2014 when they can be downloaded from Confederation of Professional Golf Member Countries’ own websites or from cpg.golf. No applications will be accepted prior to that date.

PGA Members and PGA Assistant Professionals will be entitled to a free ticket plus one half-price ticket for a guest. There are 2000 tickets available under this scheme for members of PGA, European Tour and Confederation of Professional Golf Member PGAs. Should the number of applications exceed 2000 for any day, tickets will then be allocated via a ballot. Guests must attend the same day/s as the PGA Member; however, the guest can vary from day to day.

As part of this Member benefit package the PGA Members’ Unit will provide a private area to view the golf on television and purchase food and beverages for you and your guest.

At previous Ryder Cup matches large numbers of tickets were ordered by PGA Members but not collected, to prevent this happening at the matches in 2014, PGA Members will be required to register on a daily basis to confirm that they have used their ticket.

Registration will be at the PGA Members’ Unit on site. PGA Members will need to show their current PGA Member card and their Ryder Cup ticket.

Ryder Cup Europe LLP reserves the right to charge the PGA Member the full ticket price if it is found that tickets have not been used under this concession. Members may be depriving other members of access to the matches by applying for tickets not used.

Credit or debit card details will be taken with the application for tickets to cover the amounts due for half price guest tickets; however, payment will not be processed until June 2014 with physical ticket issue a few weeks prior to the matches. Tickets are non-refundable after payment has been taken. Tickets acquired under this concession include free car park access at a designated location yet to be advised.

There will be no access to the matches as a PGA Member unless a ticket is acquired under this system. There will be no admittance by, or entitlement to, a ticket by just appearing at the matches with a PGA Member card.

England’s Robert Coles capped off a stormy and turbulent week at the 2013 Beko Classic with a second-round, course-record, 64 (-8) that together with his first round left him two ahead of the competition with a -12 total (132) at Gloria Golf Club in Belek, Turkey.

In a second round that spanned two days due to severe weather and delays during Round 2, Coles managed take advantage of his tied-5th position going into the final round and finish on top to take home the winner’s cheque for $8,000, and his second Beko Classic title having won in 2009 at Antalya Golf Club.

Round 1’s conditions were representative of standard Turkish weather, however, sever lightening storms and downpours caused rain delays on day two of the tournament and subsequently a shortening of the tournament to two rounds as opposed to the scheduled three.

Coles had only hit two shots at the first hole of his second round when play was halted, but came out the following day knowing he had to attack the course to move up the leaderboard:

“It feels fantastic to win, I was lucky enough to win a few years ago, so to come back and win it again is really nice,” explained Coles. “I started off really well on the New Course – started off slowly but managed to get it going and finished off ok. I had a good draw really – I was 09:50am the second day which was obviously quote late and meant I didn’t have to play too many…when I returned I could not believe how good the drainage was on the golf course…we played today and the sun was out and it was a dry golf course.

“Whenever you come back and you start on the golf course mid-way round you’re always a bit apprehensive about getting off to a decent start…we all knew it was a two-round tournament and we needed to have a good day. I’ve not had the best of years so this is great way to finish and I’m delighted with it really,” he added.

Round 1’s play went without a hiccup and superb 66s from Welshman, Rhys Enoch, and England’s Ryder Cup star, Paul Broadhurst, left them atop the leaderboard overnight as forecasts of heavy rain became evident.

Broadhurst continued his fine form, carding a second round, four-under 68 two finish at tied-second on ten-under par (134) alongside fellow countrymen Jamie Elson and Andrew Marshall, both of whom carded second round five-under par 67s.

2011 Open Champion, Darren Clarke, also made a bid for the title but not even a second round fiver-under par 67 was enough to catch Coles, as he finished on a nine-under par 135 total for the week in fifth place.

Early leader Enoch looked to chase but a triple-bogey on the 8th of Gloria’s New Course was enough to thwart his efforts as he finished on two-under par for the day and in sixth position on eight-under par (136) for the tournament.

The tournament’s Pro-Am honours were taken by Bona Team who’s net -40 (124 + 124 = 248) gave them a four-shot advantage at the top of the leaderboard having been aided by England’s Ben Mason in round one and Rhys Enoch in round two.

The event will see 20-plus teams from across the continent – made up of one professional and three amateurs – gather at La Manga Club to contest an overall prize fund of €20,000 (based on 20 teams) and a first prize of €3,500.

The Pro-Am sees the Confederation of Professional Golf renew its ties with the five-star La Manga Club in a partnership that ignites an old flame between the Association and the resort. The Club was once the continental European base of the Confederation of Professional Golf, hosting the Association’s Annual Congress and International Team Championships for many years.

Ian Randell, Chief Executive of the Confederation of Professional Golf, said: “La Manga Club has played a significant role in the history of the Confederation of Professional Golf…We are delighted to be renewing our relationship and this tournament signifies the start of another exciting chapter in our partnership together.”

Players will compete over 54 holes for an array of individual and team honours, with packages costing €800 per person (€2,400 per team, professionals go free) and include:

Tournament entry

4 nights’ twin-share accommodation at 5* Hotel La Manga Club Príncipe Felipe – just a short putt from the newly refurbished practice facilities and golf club house

Practice round on La Manga Club South Course

3 tournament rounds on La Manga Club South and West Courses

Gary Silcock, Director of Golf at La Manga Club, said: “As Europe’s top sports and leisure destination, it was a logical step for La Manga Club to team up with the Confederation of Professional Golf again and this is fantastic news for the resort.

“This region of Spain offers the perfect climate for winter golf. The resort is very popular with professionals hosting coaching groups on overseas breaks and the pro-am will give us the chance to showcase the extensive golf and practice facilities that we have to a discerning international audience.”
